Simple yet Scrumptious: Chocolate Cupcakes

Weigh three fresh eggs- this will be your designated weight throughout the recipe.

It will most likely be around the 200g mark.

Weigh out the same amount (200g) of butter/ margarine and pour into large mixing bowl.

Add the same amount of golden caster sugar to the large bowl and mix using a spatula and electric whisks.

Swap two heaped spoonfuls of the 200g of self-raising flour with rich cocoa powder. This will create the smooth chocolates taste.

Crack one egg into the mixing bowl with the existing cake mixture.

Then add the flour and cocoa powder and mix. Repeat these steps until all eggs and flour has been used.

Spoon into 12 cupcakes cases and put into oven (gas mark 7) for around 13 minutes.

Enjoy!

Baked By Potter: Marbled House Fondant

Being HUGE potter heads, he have decided to create a new feature on our blog where we bake goodies inspired by the incredible series that touched our childhood.

Whilst watching the Half Blood Prince and feeling nostalgic for the books, we decided to create some Potter inspired cupcake toppers.

We marbled fondant icing to create the different house colours, and then flattened them down to fit on top of a cupcake or rich tea biscuit.

Though just an experiment, these actually turned out quite well and were super fun to make!

Soft, American Pretzels

There is just something super satisfying about a large American pretzel, and making them proves to be just as fun as eating them. Taking around 60 minutes to create the dough, knead and fold into pretzel shapes (and waiting half an hour for them to rise), these tasty soft pretzels didnt seem too complicated to throw together. A quick 15-20 minutes in the oven and they were good to go (sprinkled with salt first, of course). These were a hit with our family, however we've decided that in the future we may try to make bigger pretzels as the shapes we folded didnt look too appealing...

What do you think?
