Baked By Potter: Marbled House Fondant

Being HUGE potter heads, he have decided to create a new feature on our blog where we bake goodies inspired by the incredible series that touched our childhood.

Whilst watching the Half Blood Prince and feeling nostalgic for the books, we decided to create some Potter inspired cupcake toppers.

We marbled fondant icing to create the different house colours, and then flattened them down to fit on top of a cupcake or rich tea biscuit.

Though just an experiment, these actually turned out quite well and were super fun to make!

Soft, American Pretzels

There is just something super satisfying about a large American pretzel, and making them proves to be just as fun as eating them. Taking around 60 minutes to create the dough, knead and fold into pretzel shapes (and waiting half an hour for them to rise), these tasty soft pretzels didnt seem too complicated to throw together. A quick 15-20 minutes in the oven and they were good to go (sprinkled with salt first, of course). These were a hit with our family, however we've decided that in the future we may try to make bigger pretzels as the shapes we folded didnt look too appealing...

What do you think?

Afternoon Tea with MillyMae

Extremely stereotypical, and extremely yummy, afternoon 'cream' tea is a Briton's favourite meal. Here in England, tea and scones are necessary for when in celebration. Or even if you just fancy clotted cream and strawberries. Cream tea is one of our absolute favourite things to make, so sit down and enjoy our voyage through sticky scone dough and chocolate chip mess.
We'd never tasted a chocolate chip scone before, let alone baked any, but today we decided to venture out into the unknown. I must say, it was much easier than expected.

What do you think? We decided to make our scones a little unique by using a star cookie cutter in honour of the incredible meteor shower that occurred on Monday.

What are you baking this weekend?

Favourites...

Cake Boss
Almost as addictive as popping bubble wrap, Cake Boss is a reality TV show that grips you like a vice, and doesn't let go until you've made a huge list of all the magical cake decorating you "need to do".

Red Velvet Cupcakes
Possibly the tastiest cake in the universe; no-one can resist the red velvet. Maybe it's the fact that's its vibrant and fun, or maybe it's the cream cheese icing? Or maybe a combination of both??

Cute Cupcake Cases
Without cupcake cases, there's no cupcakes. They're vital. And super, super cute. Would it be weird to confess our love for collecting cupcake cases? Or is that totally normal? We'll let you be the judge of that...

Once upon a time...

Once upon a time, two young sisters decided to start a shop. MillyMae has been their inspiration and reason to bake, and have helped them decide their future.
Milly Joy and Phoebe Mae have dreamt of a quaint little cupcake shop for years, encouraging them to finally start their own blog.
Here you can view their creations, inspirations and join them on their journey through buttercream icing and kitchen clutter.
